What’s New for 2022 Lexus ES

The most notable upgrade is with the multimedia and navigation system. The new multimedia screens (standard 8-inch and available 12.3-inch for navigation packages) have been moved forward by 4.3-inches and will feature touch-screen functionality, in addition to the remote touch interface, allowing for an easier and more convenient way for both drivers and passengers to use all of the included features. The 2022 Lexus ES will also offer other interior updates which include a streamlined instrument panel design and a few updated controls that embrace seamless cabin integration and functionality. You can check out the new touch-screen and interior instrument panel design in the picture provided by Lexus below.

The 2022 Lexus ES will also receive an upgrade to the standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 (LSS+2.5) for all equipment and trim levels. The upgraded suite of advanced safety technology gives drivers, even more, peace of mind thanks to new capabilities that help provide safety to the driver, passengers, and commuting public. Enhancements made to the Pre-Collision System (PCS), which includes Frontal Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Detection, and Bicyclist Detection, features an upgrade to the lens camera and millimeter-wave radar elements to expand the response range. These upgrades give the 2022 ES the valuable Intersection Turning Assist which will, under certain conditions, recognize an oncoming vehicle when performing a left-hand turn, or a pedestrian when performing left and right-hand turns, and is designed to activate typical PCS functions if needed. We wrote about this safety enhancement in a previous post that you can read online here.

Additional updates that come with the upgraded LSS+2.5 include a new feature that allows for smooth overtaking of slower vehicles utilizing All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and adds Curve Speed Reduction, which can automatically reduce vehicle speed through certain types of curves. Also, with LSS+2.5, the 2022 ES receives improved course recognition and can track the paths of nearby vehicles in adjacent lanes for greater lane-centering capability – all improvements that will make the ES driving experience better for everyone on the road.
